R.I.P. Mr. Rockford…

James Garner

James Garner passes away.

You will be missed, Mr. Rockford.

James Garner, star of legendary tv shows ‘Maverick’ and ‘The Rockford Files’, has passed away.

He was 86.

Garner was found deceased in his home from causes unknown.  He had previously suffered from heart disease and more recently a stroke.

Garner was a witty, acerbic actor known for his ‘playful hero’ roles on tv.  With a charming smile and resonating voice, he was a star on the big screen as well.  Those performances included roles in:  “The Children’s Hour,” “The Great Escape,” “The Americanization of Emily,” “The Thrill of It All,” “Move Over, Darling,” “Grand Prix,” “Support Your Local Sheriff,” “Marlowe,” “Victor/Victoria,” “Space Cowboys” and “The Notebook.”

And lesser known:  He served his country with great distinction, being awarded 2 Purple Hearts.
