The timing couldn’t be more obvious. This is scary. It it is reckless, financially devastating and…perfect.
New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera has just introduced a bill that would give illegal immigrants the right to vote in local and state elections. The bill could provide some cover from the damning press the President is receiving from responsible news outlets on the border crisis.
It also fit’s the President’s ‘MO’. First: Reported last night from Reuters:
The New York Is Home Act is the first bill in the United States that would provide such broad rights to non-citizens who can show they have lived and paid taxes in New York for at least three years, according to the bill’s sponsor, state Senator Gustavo Rivera.
“Nearly 3 million people in the state of New York currently reside here and make New York their home, but can’t fully participate in civic, political, and economic life,” Rivera, a Democrat who represents the Bronx in New York City, said in a telephone interview.
Completely ignoring the fact that he is referencing 3 million people living here illegally, his sales pitch is that they would have to ‘take an oath’ to uphold state laws (after breaking a big one to get here), and be ‘willing’ to serve on jury duty.
IE make decisions in criminal and civil court cases, that jury duty. (sarc.)
Other states have moved forward on their own with respect to tuition assistance and driver’s licenses, Rivera said, but no other state has considered such a broad package for its non-citizens.
Acknowledging it wouldn’t have the chance to pass this session, it certainly fits with the ‘trickle news’ the administration likes to use in floating ideas first (Obamacare, No Voter ID, No prosecuting illegals etc), then passing/imposing and reinterpreting later.
Watch these progressive liberals, folks. This one pushes further than the ‘Dream’ act for illegal immigrant children.
It fits into what is happening so far…
